The Ruling on the One who Commits Major Shirk Ignorantly – Shaikh Ibn ul-Uthaymeen

Question: Oh Virtuous Shaikh! What is the ruling on the one who commits major Shirk and he is ignorant of that?

Answer: “The ruling is that there is nothing upon him. However, if he is called to the truth, then it is obligatory upon him to follow it. It is not imaginable that a person is ignorant of major shirk except if he is a new Muslim or lives in a land far from the Scholars. Then in this condition it is imaginable for someone to be ignorant. As for a person who lives among the people, then what is apparent is that being ignorant of that [major shirk] is something far away. In this case, he is a transgressor for not asking and he is sinful”
