Question: I work as a English teacher and I do not have the time to read the Quran because I work during the day in the school until Two O’ Clock in the afternoon. After that I prepare the lessons at my house until sleep overcomes me because I have a lot of material [to prepare]. So is there sin upon me for leaving off reciting the Quran? Jazakallahu Khairan
Answer: “If it is possible to combine between reciting the Quran and establishing the obligation of teaching, then this is better. So if it is not possible, then teaching is more deserving because teaching is an obligation upon the servant. Reciting Quran is from the Sunnah, no doubt this woman will read the Book of Allah when reciting in her prayer whether Fatihah or otherwise. So she is not by that one who abandons the Quran”.
