Does the one who translates a book from one language to another gain reward like the one who wrote the book? – Shaikh Abdul-Muhsin al-‘Abbad

Question: Does the one who translates a book from one language to another gain reward like the one who wrote the book?

Answer: “No doubt he will be rewarded. This is because the group among us for whom the work is translated into their language will benefit, the translator will benefit, and the author of the original work will benefit. So he [the author] benefits and he [the translator] benefits . However, the first has greater benefit because he benefits from the work in Arabic and in other than Arabic. As for the translator, then he benefits from the translation, which he translates into other than Arabic”.
