Question: Oh Virtuous Shaikh! A youth wants to seek knowledge: is it better to memorize the Quran first or begin with memorizing the Mutun [summarized Islamic texts] and take little by little from the Quran?
Answer: ” I see that he gathers between the two affairs and he spends more time on the Quran. Seeking knowledge begins with the Quran first, before everything else. So he memorizes and understands its meaning and he places a portion of his time for the other sciences”
