Permissibility of eating with a disbeliever if there is benefit- Shaikh Ibn ul-Uthaymeen

Question: Is it allowed for a Muslim to eat with a disbeliever from one plate or not?

Answer: “There is no harm in eating with a disbeliever from one vessel, however, it is necessary in this condition to seize the opportunity to use the Islamic etiquettes of eating. So he eats with his right hand, he says: Bismillah, and he should not eat excessively, and he should restrict himself to what is more deserving and it is one-third of the stomach for food, one-third for drink, and one-third for breathing until this disbeliever knows that the religion is inclusive of everything. There is no doubt that if an intelligent person reflects on the Islamic manner of eating alone, he will know that it is an etiquette in complete accordance with the benefit of the body, just as that it is accompanied with worship by eating with the right, saying bismillah, praising Allah [on its completion]. So he seizes this opportunity and says to the disbeliever: oh so and so, look at Islam. Look at the etiquettes of Islam. So he calls him to it [Islam].

As for if there is no benefit from eating with him and he is not forced to eat with him, then do not eat with him. Perhaps something may fall into his heart of love for him and love for the Kafir has what it has of danger”.
