The Ruling on Writing Muhammad Next to the Name of Allah – Shaikh Ibn ul-‘Uthaymeen

Question: We often see the writing of Allah and next to it Muhammad (ﷺ) on the wall or on parchment or in books or some masaahif. Is placing them like this correct?

Answer: “This position is not correct because it makes the Prophet (ﷺ) a partner with Allah, equal to Him. If anyone saw this writing and he did not know the names of them, he would certainty think they were two equals and identical. So it is a must to remove the name of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). Now what remains is examining the name of Allah alone which is a statement the Sufis say. They have made it a substitute for the remembrance of Allah saying: Allah Allah Allah. So like this, it is also avoided. So Allah and Muhammad are not written on a wall, nor parchment, nor other than it”.
