Question: Reading horoscopes has spread among the young men and women in order to know their personality in accordance to the month which they were born in. Likewise, some websites have been established which pose questions. After answering the questions, it will produce a result, in which is the personality of the one who answered the question in accordance to their answers. What is the ruling on this action?
Answer: “This is astrology. From astrology is to make inferences through the conditions of the stars and their movements. This is from idolatry:
مَنْ اقْتَبَسَ عِلْمًا مِنْ النُّجُومِ اقْتَبَسَ شُعْبَةً مِنْ السِّحْرِ زَادَ مَا زَادَ
If anyone acquires any knowledge of astrology, he acquires a branch of magic of which he gets more as long as he continues to do so [Saheeh Sunan Abi Dawood no. 3905]
Some of the Salaf said: “The stars are creation who do not have good or bad. Verily they are a creation which are subjected. As for good and bad, then it is in the Hand of Allah, the Almighty, the Exalted”.
These astrologers are disbelieving people or misguided or ignorant. Their statement is not relied upon”
