Question: May Allah be good to you, from his questions is: O Eminent Shaikh, why is the Muslim Ummah in a weak state in this time period and what are the causes for that? What are the causes for its advancement going forward?
Answer: “The means are many. First: every time the time period advances and the people are distanced from the time of those before them from Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jam’aah, itibba‘ (following the religion) weakens among them. The reason is the long separation between them and the Salaf of the nation.
Second: Due to an increase in desires and an increase of misguided sects. In our recent time period the media is also found, which carries many evils and trials which affect those it reaches. Along with the fact that the one who views it [may think] it is a religious heritage, and the fact that it reaches faraway lands, and what resembles that”
