The Ruling on Meat that is Slaughtered Using a Recording of the Name of Allah – Shaikh Abdul-Muhsin al-‘Abbaad

Question: In one of the European countries there are tools for slaughter which have the name of Allah recorded in them. Every time an animal passes, this machine pronounces: Bismillah. The animals are hanging from their feet to their tops and from their heads to their bottom. So is it allowed for us to eat from this slaughter? What is your advise for those who do this only due to competition [ie. with other slaughter houses]?

Answer: “The origin is that the Name of Allah should come from the person and it should not be simply a recording. This is like the recorded adhaan. In any case, it is eaten from [i.e. this slaughtered meat is eaten]”
