The Misguided Group of Abdullah al-Habashi – Shaikh Bin Baz

Shaikh Bin Baz (may Allah have mercy upon him) said in regards to the group known as the Ahbaash (الأحباش):

From Abdul-Aziz bin Abdillah bin Baz to dear brother (T.M.) may Allah protect him.  Salamu Alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. As for what follows:

I refer to your specific inquiry to the Dar ul-Buhooth al-Ilmiyyah wal-Ifta (no. 313) on the date of 1/25/1406 H. wherein you asked about the group that ascribes itself to its leader called Abdullah al-Habashi.

I inform you that this group is well-known with us. It is a misguided group and its leader called Abdullah al-Habashi is well-known for his deviation and misguidance. So it is obligatory to boycott them, detest their false beliefs, and warn the people from listening to them or accepting what they say. There is no doubt, that the one who detests that Allah is above the heavens is a Jahmi, a misguided one, a disbeliever, and one who falsely denies. This is due to the statement of Allah, the Exalted:

أَأَمِنْتُمْ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاءِ

Do you feel secure that He, Who is over the heaven (Allah) [67:16]

And what comes in its meaning from the verses [of the Quran] and the authentic Ahaadith from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). There is no doubt that what Ibn Battuta mentioned about Shaikhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy upon him), in terms of him resembling the descending of Allah to his [own] descending from the steps of the minbar, is a fabricated affair without any foundation for it in the authentic texts. The texts of Shaikhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy upon him) all indicate the lie of that [report] and in Allah aid is sought.

As for your eagerness for the sending of the Fatawa of Shaikul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah and some books of Aqeedah, then we see that you should write a separate letter about that, accompanied with a copy of your qualifications or recommendations from some of the People of Knowledge who know you. In light of that, we will send to you what is appropriate inshallah. May Allah grant us all success towards what He loves and is pleased with. Verily He is All-Hearing and Responsive.

Assalamu Alaykum wa ramatullahi wa barakatuhu“.
