Questioner: “This is my certificate and course-notes from a Shaikh who is called al-Harari or al-Habashi. We went to him and he indicated that we memorize Alfiyyah al-Iraaqi. I found a group that ascribes to al-Harari here in Jordan. So what do you say about that? [Please give us] a short speech so that we can put it in a book.
Shaikh: This [man] is a deviant
Questioner: A [short] speech [Shaikh] so we can spread it in a book
Shaikh: How?
Questioner: A [short] speech. If you are willing to say something about him so that we can put it in a book inshallah about the history of groups
Shaikh: I say that Shaikh al-Habashi, first, is a mathhabi and second, he is bigoted towards Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jam’aah
Questioner: Bigoted?
Shaikh: Towards Ahlus-Sunnah. More than that, he clearly declares Shaikul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah a disbeliever like some of those who have been affected in our land here. He was able to do [so] with great regret.
Questioner: He was able to so?
Shaikh: He was able to, with great regret, due to the absence of one who openly calls to the Book and Sunnah in the land of Lebanon. He was able to amass some of the Muslim youth and misguide those with him with a great misguidance. So like that, we find them eager without guidance with Shaikh al-Habashi. They declare everyone who does not follow their way as disbelievers. His (al-Habashi’s) mathhab is ‘Ashari in regards to the knowledge of Kalam. His mathhab in Aqeedah is ‘Ashari and in Fiqh he is a bigoted, restricted Shafi’ee. Wassalamu Alaykum
Questioner: Jazakallahu Khairan”
