How Should a Student of Knowledge Balance Their Schedule During Ramadan? – Shaikh Ibn ul-‘Uthaymeen

Question: If a student of knowledge placed a schedule for himself in the day and night. So for example, he spends two-thirds of the time memorizing mutoon and for reading and the remaining of the time for eating, drinking, and reciting the Quran. Should he continue upon that even in Ramadan? Or should he make most of his time for reciting the Quran?

Answer: “What is necessary in Ramadan is that you make the Book of Allah, the Exalted most of your reading because the recitation of the Quran in this month has a merit and benefit which is not [found] in other months. So like this, Jibreel (may peace be upon him) descended upon the Prophet (ﷺ) in Ramadan to study the Quran. This is because the Quran was revealed in this month. So this month is the most deserving of the months in regards to it.

So that which is necessary is to increase in the recitation of the Quran in this month and to read what he needs to read or memorize of the books of knowledge. Knowledge will not leave by the leaving of Ramadan. It is possible that he can catch up what he was deficient in during Ramadan afterwards”.
