Question: To what extent is obedience to the parents and is it obligatory in every situation?
Answer: “Obedience to the parents is in other than the disobedience of Allah. If they order with disobedience [to Allah], then there is no obedience to the creation in the disobedience of Allah:
وَإِنْ جَاهَدَاكَ لِتُشْرِكَ بِي مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ فَلا تُطِعْهُمَا
But if they strive to make you join with Me (in worship) anything (as a partner) of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not [29:8]
