[Benefit] Over lining a Word Instead of Underlining it – Umm Abdillah al-Waad’iyyah

Umm Abdillah al-Waadi’yyah (may Allah preserve her) said: “There was a word which I had [written] and it had a mistake in it. So I placed a line below the word. So my father [Shaikh Muqbil may Allah have mercy upon him] said: ‘Shaikh al-Albani (may Allah have mercy upon him) said: ‘The line is written above the word in opposition to the Kuffar

I say [Umm Abdillah]: “as a benefit I will mention the speech of Shaikh al-Albani (may Allah have mercy upon him) who said: “If he places the line above the word, the intent is to give notice to it. It is the way of our Scholars coinciding with the way of the Scholars of Hadith. As for placing the line below the word, then it is the action of the Europeans and we have been ordered to oppose them”.

Note: The original words of Shaikh al-Albani (may Allah have mercy upon him) can be found in Irwaa al-Ghaleel (1/22-Maktab ul-Islaami print) when the Shaikh says in the footnote: “And we placed the line above the words. The intent is to give notice to them following the principle of the Muslim authors- as the author (of the text Manaar us-Sabeel) did- as for placing the line below these words, then it is the blind following of the Europeans
