Shaikh ‘Adnan al-Masqari (may Allah preserve him) wrote: “ Chapter: Supplication when the Rain Descends
O Allah, may it be a beneficial rain cloud
Proof:
‘Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would say if he saw rain: “O Allah, may it be a beneficial rain cloud” [Al-Bukhari no. 1032]
O Allah, make it a wholesome rain cloud
Proof:
It was narrated from ‘Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saw rain, he would say: “O Allah, make it a wholesome rain cloud).” [Ahmad (no. 24589), Ibn Majah (no. 3890), and others. Graded Saheeh by Imam al-Albani in Saheeh Ibn Majah (no. 3152)]
It is the mercy (of Allah)
Proof:
Ata’ bin Abi Rabah reported that he heard ‘A’isha, the wife of the Messenger of Allah (way peace be upon him), as saying: When there was on any day windstorm or dark cloud (its effects) could be read on the face of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and he moved forward and backward (in a state of anxiety) ; and when it rained, he was delighted and it (the state of restlessness) disappeared. ‘A’isha said: I asked him the reason of this anxiety and he said: I was afraid that it might be a calamity that might fall upon my Ummah, and when he saw rainfall he said: It is the mercy (of Allah) [Muslim no. 899]
