Halabi: The questioner says: I read in some books that when the disbeliever sneezes, the Muslim says to him:
يهديكم الله و يصلح بالكم
May Allah guide you and rectify your affairs
So is the affair like that as is apparent? Then, are we allowed to translate it into English so that the people may know it or what resembles it?
Shaikh: No, that which is reported is:
هداك الله
May Allah guide you
it is said to the disbelievers.
Halabi: That which is reported is May Allah guide you without mentioning rectification?
Shaikh: Yes
Questioner: I read somewhere but I forgot which book, that the Jews used to sneeze in front of the Prophet (ﷺ) so that he will say to them: May Allah have mercy upon you. He said in reply to them: May Allah have mercy upon you.
Another Questioner: It is in Muslim [Saheeh Muslim]
Questioner: I read in Muslim, that is, possibly Zakaria’s question is in accordance to this?
Shaikh: The Prophet (ﷺ) did not say that to them
Halabi: The Shaikh said: not to say May Allah rectify your affairs. Just May Allah guide you
Shaikh: Other than it
