Question: May Allah be good to you and bless you. The questioner Umm Yasir says: in the neighborhood Masjid there is a carpeted staircase in the women’s section. Is this staircase considered from the Masjid or not? What is the ruling of prayer upon it?
Answer: “If the staircase is inside the door of the Masjid then it is from the Masjid. If it is outside the door of the Masjid, then it is not from it.
As for praying upon it, then if a person prays facing the Qiblah, then there is no harm. If he is not facing the Qiblah, then this is not allowed. How can someone pray towards other than the Qiblah”.
