What is the Ruling If the Order of the Father Contradicts the Order of the Mother – Shaikh Ibn ul-Uthaymeen

Question: What is the Ruling if the order of the father contradicts the order of the mother?

Answer: “if the order of the father contradicts the order of the mother, then it is obligatory to manage both and fulfill the work of the father and the work of the mother. If he is not able to do that, then he sees which of the two is more harmful if he opposes it. If [leaving off the order] of the father is more harmful, then he fulfills the need of the father. If [leaving the order] of the mother is more harmful, then he fulfills the right of the mother. If they are equal, then he puts [the order] of the mother first because the Prophet (ﷺ) was asked: who among the people is most deserving of my good treatment? He said:

قَالَ ثُمَّ مَنْ قَالَ ‏”‏ أُمُّكَ ‏”‏‏.‏ قَالَ ثُمَّ مَنْ قَالَ ‏”‏ ثُمَّ أَبُوكَ

Your mother.” The man said. “Who is next?” The Prophet said, “Your mother.” The man further said, “Who is next?” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Your mother.” The man asked for the fourth time, “Who is next?” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Your father.”
