The Ruling on Reforming Islaam – Shaikh Saalih al-Fawzaan

Question: We hear one who speaks about reforming Islam, so is he correct in his statement?

Answer: “If the intent by reform of Islam is da’wah towards it, removing what is connected to the Muslims from polytheism, innovation, myths, and clarifying the correct Islam which the Prophet (ﷺ) came with and the Pious Predecessors tread, then this reform is an obligatory right. The Prophet (ﷺ) informed [us] that Allah will sent for this nation at the head of every one hundred years a person who will revive the religion for them [Reported by Sunan Abu Dawood (4/106-107) and Hakim in Mustadrak (4/522)].

If the intent of reform of Islam is substituting its rulings with what is in agreement to the desires of the people in terms of mistaken ijtihaad and opinions that oppose Islam, then this reform is falsehood, rejected. This is what is call to by some ignorant people and those with polluted ideas”.
