The Ruling on Liposuction For the Purpose of Beautification – Shaikh Salih al-Fawzaan

Question: The sister asks about the ruling on liposuction for the purpose of reducing some parts of the woman’s body, considering that this is not due to obesity but only for beautification or beautification for the husband?

Answer: “All praise is due to Allah the Lord of the Worlds and may peace and blessings be upon Muhammad (ﷺ) , his family and all his Companions. As for what follows:

Beautification is done by actions that are well-known to the people since a long time ago. Beautification of the body by washing, cleaning, and perfuming. For women, they use dyes and powders that are suitable [for them]. As for treatments on the body which are called plastic surgery, then if they are done to remove a deformation or cure a sickness or remove an additional limb and that is overseen by trustworthy doctors, then there is no harm in it.

As for if the body is sound and this beautifcation changes some of his/her features which are sound and beautiful, then this is not allowed. This is because this is playing with the body and exposing it to pain which has no benefit”.
