Jabir radiallahu anhu said that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:
و لا يمسح يده بالمنديل حتى يلعق يده ، فإن الرجل لا يدري في أي طعامه يبارك الله
“…He should not wipe his hand with a napkin until he licks his hand, for verily a man does not know in what part of his food the blessing lies ”
[Silsilatus-Saheeha no. 1404]
Shaikh Al-Albani rahimahullah said:
“Then they [those who blind follow the West and Europe] do not lick their fingers, rather most of them consider that impolite and a violation of the etiquette of eating food. So like that, they have napkins on their tables made from light, absorbing paper known as Kleenex. So one of them does not find something of grease on his fingers, rather not on his lips except he races to wipe that with the napkin, in opposition to the text of the Hadith”
