The origin of the Muslim, Sunnah or innovation? – Shaykh Yahya bin Ali al Hajoori

Question: Is the origin of the Muslim the Sunnah or Innovation, Jazkallahu Khairan?

Answer:  It is not said all the Muslims are people of Sunnah and it is not said all of them are people of innovation. Everyone is put in their place and everyone today is spoken of in accordance to their condition. So from the Muslims is the one who is a companion of the Sunnah and from the Muslims is the the Sufi, and from the Muslims is the Shi’ee, and from the Muslims is the Hizbi, and from the Muslims is the Murj’ee. Is it said that these are the people of the Sunnah? This is a grave mistake. What confirms this statement is the Hadith of Messenger (May peace and Blessings be upon him and his followers):

فترق اليهود على إحدى وسبعين فرقة وافترق النصارى على ثنتين وسبعين فرقة وستفترق هذه الأمة على ثلاثة وسبعين فرقة كلها في النار إلا واحدة

“The Jews have split into seventy-one sects and the Christians have split into seventy-Two sects and this Ummah will split into seventy-three sects, all of them in the fire except one.”.

[Reported by Abu Dawood and graded Hasan by shaikh Muqbil in Jami’ ul-Qadr]

So this proves that from the Muslims of this nation, which is the Ummah of acceptance and reward, is the one who opposes the saved sect and opposes the truth and the Sunnah.
