The Means of Happiness- Shaikh Ibn ul-‘Uthaymeen

Question: May Allah be good to you and bless you. The Questioner from Makkah says: What are the means for a happy life in the worldly life and the hereafter?
Answer: “Its means are two as mentioned by Allah, the Exalted in His Book. He said:

Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him We will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do (i.e. Paradise in the Hereafter).

May Allah make you and us from the believers who work righteous deeds

Questioner: Allahumma Ameen

So you find that a believer who works righteous deeds has the best of hearts, most spacious of chests, is easy-going in regards the ordainment and pre-decree, establishing the obedience of Allah and His Messenger. He does not get happy with what the people of arrogance get happy about, not sad about what passes him without shortcoming. So he is always happy and always in good. The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

Suhaib bin Sinan (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “How wonderful is the case of a believer; there is good for him in everything and this applies only to a believer. If prosperity attends him, he expresses gratitude to Allah and that is good for him; and if adversity befalls him, he endures it patiently and that is better for him”

[Saheeh Muslim]”
