Question: Our teacher, if a woman wants to do good and assist the poor or dawah like this, is it allowed for her without informing her family (ie. Spend money without informing the family)?
The Shaikh: The woman you intend is married?
Student: A married woman and not married woman, both
Answer: No, oh my brother. Each question has its answer. Married or not married?
So we say, if she is married then it is not allowed for a woman to spend her money without the permission of her husband*. As for if she is not married, then I ask: does she have a father or not? If she has a father then the answer has preceded and if she does not have a father, then it is allowed for her”.

This statement of the Shaikh is actually a Hadith:
لَيْسَ لِلْمَرْأَةِ أَنْ تَنْتَهِكَ شَيْئاً مِنْ مَالِهَا إلا بإذن زوجها
“It is not allowed for a woman to spend something of her wealth except with the permission of her husband “.
