Question: If my father orders me to go with him to a walimah that has evil. Should I go and please my father or should I remain [at home] and he will be angry at me?
Answer: “First, if you going with him will lead to you advising him and directing him and then either it occurs [i.e. he is advised] or you leave, then this is good. If you know that that will not occur and if you go you will sit, then speak to your father and clarify to him that it is not befitting to love to witness this evil affair [which is present in the walimah]. And advise him and also do not go. If he persists then do not go because obeying Allah, the Exalted is more deserving then obeying your father. Yes”.
