Question: The questioner says: Oh Virtuous Shaikh, what is the ruling on piercing the ear with more than one piercing in order to hang more than one earring from one ear?
Answer: “I fear that this is from extravagance for a woman to hang on her ears more than what is custom. Allah says:
وَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا وَلا تُسْرِفُوا إِنَّهُ لا يُحِبُّ الْمُسْرِفِين
Eat and drink but waste not by extravagance, certainly He (Allah) likes not Al-Musrifun (those who waste by extravagance).

So if the custom is that a woman pierces two piercings in one ear, then there is no problem. However, if it is not the custom, then it is blameworthy extravagance. It is feared that the women will commercialize that and vie in it. So in this year it is two piercings and in the next year three and four until the entire ear is pierced. And this is not far away. The women take each other as examples “.
